Hungarians and Azerbaijanis are connected by mutual sympathy, shared cultural roots, feelings of kinship while interstate relations are characterized by strong political ties as well as close cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States as well as other international organizations.

Hungary recognised the independence of Azerbaijan on 26 December 1991 and established diplomatic relations on 27 April 1992. Azerbaijan has been our strategic partner since 2014 and in 2023 we upgraded our cooperation to a strengthened strategic partnership.

PCCE project in Baku - What Will We Wear in the Future? exhibition at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum

The Platform ‘Culture – Central Europe’ was initiated in 2001 by the ministers responsible for foreign cultural activities in Central European countries as a forum for cultural discussions and projects with the aim of complementing multilateral cooperation through activities based on common Central European traditions and interests. Member states of the PCCE include Austria, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary.

On the 16th of December in the conference hall of the Azerbaijan Academy of Music took place a conference and concert, organized by the Embassy of Hungary and the Academy of Music and dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the birth of Béla Bartók.
